Extraordinary Hospitality

Series: Values Along the Journey

Extraordinary Hospitality

June 13, 2021 | Rev. Dr. Chris J. Hayes

Passage: Romans 15:1-7

Welcome to worship! Going out of our way to make others know they are loved, welcomed, accepted, and valued is a key component of a faithful Christian journey. In today’s message centered on Romans 15:1-7, Rev. Dr. Chris J. Hayes looks at how Jesus’ interactions with the people of his time are our template for extraordinary hospitality. As we grow in our faith, we become more reflective of God’s ultimate hospitality towards us as we show the world that everyone is always welcome. This means at times we allow ourselves some discomfort because we care most about making others comfortable and loved around us.

Pastor Hayes in joined in worship by Betsy Spencer, Family Ministries Director and Rev. Molly Hayes, Lead Pastor at Church of the Good Shepherd. Sean Hale, Music and Worship Director, offers special music “ Welcome to God’s Love” by Mark Miller with Dr. Jamila Javadova-Spitzberg on piano. Other music includes the hymn “They’ll Know We are Christians By Our Love”, prelude “Lord of the Dance” and postlude “Sonata in C minor” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
