Self-Control

Series: Table Manners

Self-Control

June 17, 2022 | Rev. Dr. Chris J. Hayes

Passage: Judges 16:4-21

Samson was given every opportunity to know what Delilah was up to, but he kept giving in to her requests and he stayed in a very unhealthy relationship all because he lacked self-control. Love, anger, life, and many other things can cause us to lose self-control but remembering our priorities and staying focused on the most important things that God gives us, is vital to being the people God desires for us to be. All of this requires self-control and asking God to give us strength when we may feel weak.

Series Information

Galatians 5 tells us that there are obvious fruits that the Spirit gives and that we are to produce as followers of Jesus Christ. If we can experience and exhibit love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, we are well on our way to being the people God created us to be. God offers this abundance of fruit for each one of us, and we can offer these fruits at every table where we find ourselves.
