First UMC Arlington's Advocates for Social Justice have an ongoing forum series called Do No Harm. These forums are intended to bring folks together in order to consider and discuss Christian perspectives and responses to complex, yet important social topics. The next forum will take place on Sunday, June 2 and will focus on LGBTQ+ Justice and Equality. While significant progress has been made in recent decades, this demographic continues to have their rights challenged or neglected. Furthermore, given that the UMC has seen a number of churches disafilliate these last few years over the topic of LGBTQ+ inclusion, we might consider what is next for us, both as a denomination and as a local church.
