Faith and Forgiveness Study

Mondays | April 8-May 13 | 6-7:30 pm | Room 100/ On Tap (200 N. Mesquite St.)

Easter Sunday is just the beginning of the Easter season. Join Pastor Madison for an Easter study covering the topic of Faith and Forgiveness. The story of Easter reminds us that our sins are forgiven through Christ's life-giving teachings, his sacrificial death, and his glorious resurrection. And, we as Christians are taught to forgive others their sins just as ours have been forgiven.

But what does forgiveness look like in practice? Is forgiveness really necessary to heal and move on? What if we find it impossible to "forgive and forget?" Does forgiveness always include reconciliation? How many second chances do we allow others who continue to cause us harm? Is there such a thing as an unforgivable sin? How can we learn to accept forgiveness from others? How do we learn to forgive ourselves our own sins?

These are some heavy topics! At 6:45, we will transition to a more casual setting. Those who are interested are welcome to head across the street to On Tap (200 N. Mesquite St.), where you can purchase an alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverage to enjoy as we continue the discussion and fellowship for another 20 or so minutes.

Love Without Limits Book Study

Begins May 13/May 14 | Mondays @ 7 pm | Room 100 | Tuesdays @ 2 pm | Room 100
Join Loni Fancher, Director of Student Formation, as she walks through this book study and examines Jesus' radical visions for love with no exceptions. Our world feels more divided than ever. Polarizing politics, racial violence, economic inequity, sickness, and suffering continue to leave us grappling with the loss of civility, respect, unity, and hope. Many of us question whether it's possible to cultivate a love that's big, revolutionary, and radical enough to overthrow hate and heal hurt. Award-winning author and public theologian, Jacqueline A. Bussie, not only believes it's possible - she knows it's the only path.
In Love Without Limits, Bussie imparts practical solutions for people of faith who yearn to love across division, difference, and even death in today's troubled times. Through poignant personal memoir, engaging theological reflection, inspiring true stories of transgressive friendships, creative readings of scripture, and surprising shout-outs to some of love's most unsung teachers, Bussie challenges readers to answer God's call to practice love so deeply, that it subverts the social order; so radical, it scandalizes the powerful, so capacious, it excludes no one.
This book study is primarily for adults but is open to all ages. Participants, please order your copy of Love Without Limits by Jacqueline Bussie.

The Apostles After the Resurrection

For Such a Time as This?

4th Sunday @ 5 pm/Banquet Room OR the following Wednesday @ 6:30 pm/Zoom

This group is led by Pastor Madison and is open to everyone in the church and community. Contact Pastor Madison for the Zoom info.

2024 is an election year, which comes with many challenges. The news cycle is constantly reminding us of the hostility and ugliness of American politics. Social media becomes a seemingly inescapable battleground. We can't sit around the dinner table with certain family members. Even those of us in the church have a difficult time respecting our congregations' diversity of political opinions. How can we stay connected when our world is so divided? How can we exercise our convictions with compassion? What are the best practices for handling election-related stress and anxiety? The purpose of this group is to equip members of our church and community to model healthier practices for monitoring and maintaining their faith commitments, mental health, and personal relationships throughout an election year. We will look to scripture and one another for guidance and reassurance that we can engage politics this year with grace, hope, and love.
