Passage: Jonah 1:1-17

Welcome to Worship! Through the recent difficulties of the pandemic, natural disasters, and other challenging issues, some of us may have thought about running away to forget about it all. And sometimes running away seems like the solution when God invites us to do something we are worried about, challenged by, or simply don’t want to do. Today, we begin a 4-week series “Jonah’s Crazy Journey”, looking at the very real temptation and practice we all struggle with when we prefer our way of God’s way. Reverend Molly Hayes, Lead Pastor at Church of the Good Shepherd has today’s message called “Running Away.”

Series Information

One of the greatest purposes of Holy Scripture is to show us stories about God’s people that we can learn from throughout history. Jonah was on a journey of faith and life just like each and every one of us. His journey was a bit more dramatic, but his struggles, triumphs, and attitude along the journey gives us great insight into how we should live, and often insight into how we should not live, as we strive to be faithful followers of God’s love.
