Despite Our Pain: Christmas Happens Anyway

December 06, 2020 | Rev. Dr. Chris J. Hayes

Passage: Isaiah 40:1-11

In a year where we individually and collectively have experienced hurt and pain, its important to remember that the story of Christmas happens anyway. Christmas is not just the birth of the Christ child, it's the birth of God’s healing, God’s wholeness, God’s presence, and God’s hopeful future. Today's message "Despite Our Pain: Christmas Happens Anyway" by Rev. Dr. Chris J. Hayes centers around Isaiah 40:1-11.

Joining him in worship is Rev. Molly Hayes and Loni Fancher. Loni sings "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" accompanied by Dr. Jamila Javadova-Spitzberg, who also performs "In The Bleak Midwinter" and "Joy To The World". Kurt and Robin Wetterling light the second Advent candle of Joy.

Series Information

It’s been a weird year. Family traditions and church traditions may not look the same as they always have. It may feel like Christmas just can’t or won’t happen this year. Yet, we’re reminded through the story of that first Christmas that it happens anyway.
