Activities & ProgramsWe have an exciting array of activities and programs for our church and community children throughout the year. We hope you will join us!
We offer a variety of camps for children all of ages throughout the summer. Each year is a little different, but listed below are camps that are typical of what we offer.
Vacation Bible SchoolVBS is generally held the first week of August each year. Children rotate through different classrooms, each with a different subject while learning about the main bible theme of the week. VBS is open to children age 3 (as of 6/1 and potty-trained) to 6th grade. VBS 2012 will be July 30 - August 3, from 9am-12pm, so mark your calendars now!
Art CampThis art class introduces children 3rd-6th grade to a variety of art mediums and subjects as well as different types of arts projects that will help children also learn the Word of God. Children will be able to take home the projects at the end of the week to display in their home.Cooking Camp

Advent Season |
We have special classes and events for children during the Advent season leading up to Christmas. We hope that these activities help the children remember the true meaning of Christmas and help families celebrate the birth of Christ together.
Family Advent Festival
Families come together to spend time with each other preparing for the Advent season. Activities may include making Advent wreathes, Advent calendars, and Advent picture frames which can be displayed and discussed at home. The festival concludes with worship together.
Children's Christmas pageant
By participating in the nativity story, children gain a better understanding of the story of Jesus and the meaning of the season. Family members enjoy attending the pageant and seeing their young ones (Pre 4A&B through 5th grade) playing a part in the Christmas story.
Family Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
This service is designed to meet the spiritual needs of families with young children on Christmas Eve.
Lenten Season |
We have special classes and events for children during the Lenten season leading up to Easter. We hope that these activities and events help the children remember the true meaning of Easter and help families come together in rememberence of Christ and what he did for us.
Easter Egg Hunt/All Church Picnic
Entertainment usually includes pictures with the Easter Bunny, Easter Arts and Crafts, Country Critters Petting Zoo, Children’s Western Train and other performances.
This event is sponsored by our Children's Council, Nursery Council and Adult Education Council.
Every year on Palm Sunday we have our annual Easter Egg Hunt and All Church Picnic beginning after church in our Center St. lot. We have a grand time eating lunch together, participating in Easter-related activities, watching entertaining groups perform, and of course, hunting for eggs!
Other Special Classes / Programs |
Way of the Child
This program helps children learn and practice their spirituality. It also leads them to talk about how they find God in their daily lives. These experiences lead children to be more connected to God, themselves and the world around them.
God and Country
The God and Country program was developed for Scouts in 2nd-6th grade and takes place during the spring. The curriculum is designed to help children grow stronger in faith and in service to God. The program is both Bible-based and action-based: children read scripture lessons and then design projects to put into action what they have learned. All Scouts who complete the program receive a medal of recognition for their participation, which can be worn with their Scout uniform.
3rd graders are presented with a bible engraved with their name in September. This presentation is followed by a series of six "Learning to Use My Bible" classes (during Sensational Journeys) to help them become more familiar with the bible in order to use it in church and at home.
5th Grade Human Sexuality Class
Communication with children can be difficult at times, especially on the topic of human sexuality. This class emphasizes a healthy biblical and Christian perspective on human sexuality, values, and relationships. Children are given a book that can be used for individual reference and study, and for discussion with parents.
Preschool Playdates
Several times a month, moms/dads/caregivers get together to participate in an activity or special event with the little ones we are caring for. We plan several activities a month at area attractions, such as Forest Park Miniature Railroad, Dallas Arboretum, River Legacy Park, CATS theatre, Howard Moore playpool, local park playdates, and others. We even take some time to ourselves with Mom's Lunches (while our children play together at our church's KidsCorner nursery.)
