Global Outreach
Mission Possible Russia (MP-R):
- Established at our church in 1999, MP-R is an outreach project pairing churches in the United States with a sister church in Russia.
- FUMC of Arlington provides financial, ministry and moral support to a Russian church led by Pastor Elena Solokvena. Solokvena's church meets regularly for Sunday services, but also ministers to local street children with food, bible activities and liaisons with nearby orphanages to ensure the children’s needs are being met.
- Throughout our service to them, we have collected money to help purchase Russian bibles and have sent numerous pairs of jeans, socks, and underwear to help the children served by the church and in the orphanages.
- This team is led by congregation member Bill Shelton. They accept new members at any time. For questions or to join, please contact Bill at bill@billshelton.com

Maua Methodist Hospital, Kenya:
Through support of GBGM missionaries Bill and Jerri Savuto, and a mission trip to the hospital in 2009, FUMC of Arlington supports the Maua Methodist Hospital in a number of ways. We send medical supplies through local teams who are travelling to Kenya, we collect Sunday school materials for their local church, and individuals have the opportunity to donate to the programs of the Hospital through the GBGM Special Initiatives. 100% of your donation supports the specific projects you choose. Projects you can donate to through the hospital:
-
Maua Hospital Service Fund:
- Your monthly gift of $15 saves the life of a child or orphan each year. This will pay the medical bills of orphans or abandoned children or other poor patients. 30% of the hospital patients cannot afford to pay their minimal medical bills as they are children and families of subsistence farmers. Advance #09613A
-
AIDS Orphans’ Feeding and Education Support:
- $10 per month feeds and provides for the primary school education of an AIDS orphan. It assists with sustenance, school uniforms, books, shoes, health, and spiritual guidance. Most of these children live with elderly grandmothers who cannot afford adequate food for the children. Advance #140161
The Advance website is: www.advancinghope.org. You can make a one time contribution or make an automatic payment each month. |
