FUMC of Arlington Helps Build House For Local Woman

 
FUMC of Arlington to sponsor Trinity Habitat for Humanity build day on October 15
 

ARLINGTON, Texas (October 11, 2011) – As part of First United Methodist Church of Arlington’s continued partnership with Trinity Habitiat for Humanity (www.trinityhabitat.org), FUMC of Arlington will sponsor a Habitat build day on Saturday, October 15 from 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM.

Imagine a world where everyone has a safe, affordable, decent place to live. Habitat for Humanity International is trying to makeMaria Duron this hope a reality in countries around the world. FUMC of Arlington has partnered with the local area affiliate, Trinity Habitat for Humanity, for the last eight years to help build homes in Arlington and Fort Worth.

This year, FUMC of Arlington will work alongside other area churches, to build a home for Maria Duron and her two children. 

Maria's Story
Maria Duron lives in an apartment with her two children. With record temperatures Duron worried her faulty air conditioner would fail. She also doesn’t feel safe. “There are always people hanging around outside smoking and drinking,” says Duron. “My kids don’t feel safe and I want something more for my family.”
 
Duron’s desire to provide her children a safe home ultimately led her to Trinity Habitat for Humanity. “I didn’t think a home was something I could afford until I heard about Habitat,” explains Duron. “It’s the only place that would give me the chance to own a home. Becoming a Habitat homeowner will give me privacy, freedom and peace to just
